The products and services offered to the students all lead to an increase in academic and personal achievement and the enhancement of the well-being of the students.
1) Tutoring: The middle and high school students that the Homework Hub and Learning Center will cater to will need assistance with strategies and content knowledge to pass the ARMT, SAT-10, AHSGE. Prior to tutoring sessions, the owner will have a conference with the parent(s) and student(s) to discuss the areas of the test in need of further concentration. In addition to test preparation assistance, tutoring also will be provided as a tool to help with the students’ homework.
2) Mentoring: Many of the students for which the Homework Hub and Learning Center will cater to are in dire need of a listening ear. Many of their parents are working full-time jobs on shifts counter to when the students need help with homework or someone to talk to about their day. The tutors will not take the place of the parent but rather will ensure that the students’ interests and needs are of the utmost importance and will provide that quality tutor-student relationship that is necessary for academic and personal growth and development.
3) Diagnostic Testing: Some students will come to the center not fully cognizant of what their areas of improvement are. In these cases, the owner will administer a diagnostic test for the core areas of content: Math, English, Social Studies, and Science. After analyzing the results of the diagnostic test, the owner will set up a follow-up meeting with the parent(s) and student(s) to discuss the results and create a goal plan for academic achievement.
4) Monthly progress reports: Comparable to the school systems, the Homework Hub and Learning Center will provide progress reports to detail what progress has been made and set up future goals. This will be accomplished through the administration of on-going assessments. This will serve as a method to keep the parents, students, and teachers alert of the growth of the student. The owner will be in close communication with the schools to ensure that the activities done at the center correlate with relevant material covered in school so as to not become counter-productive. This reciprocal relationship will serve as another way to strengthen the academic and personal well-being of the student.
